Notes From The Shop - Chapter 3 "The Window Displays"

My seasonal window displays have become somewhat of a “thing” for me. When initially planning the shop I underestimated how much joy I would get from designing & executing various themed displays. I am blessed to have two huge picture window facing Main Street which offer ample visibility and opportunity to be creative.

Each shop window is designed and built by hand (by me, no creative team or outside hires) using upcycled materials and reimagined objects. Every display reflects a seasonal story that continues inside the shop, guiding the products you see on the shelves.

Planning for each window begins months in advance (because buying products to coordinate also takes time) starting with an inspiration board where an idea brews and is tweaked endlessly. Eventually the idea takes shape and morphs into a sketchy rendering which serves as an outline for the final execution.

I love finding creative ways in which to introduce the season - each window display sets the tone for the products you’ll find inside—thoughtfully and intentionally curated. Ironically I do not typically feature products in my display rather I select a theme which gives a nod (and a wink) to what folks can expect to discover once inside.
