Introducing a new collection “Sarah Bertochi - Vintage”

This new limited release is comprised of several one of a kind bags. Each unique piece is a blend of old and new. I have taken found and collected fabrics, given them new life by repurposing them into our range of fashionable handbags.

These well designed fabrics feature unique patterns that may have very slight imperfections but all were cut to meticulously showcase the design in the best possible way.

This new range of bags speak directly to our core values - to reuse, recycle and repurpose what we can, to do our part for the environment, no matter how small the impact. I am a firm believer we as human beings have a responsibility to be stewards during our short time here on earth and that by taking small steps collectively we can impart a difference.

Using upcycled and found fabric is not new to my business, it is something I have incorporated from the very early days. It started initially as a means to help reduce my overall cost of goods. As my business has grown raw material prices have increased and to remain profitable, it was necessary to either pass that cost along to my customers or find another way.

There is an abundance of textile waste and not just from “fast fashion brands” but generally speaking it is a mind set. This “everything is disposable” culture has led to massive amount of waste with no where to go.

As a maker of handmade goods, with our production local and for the most part, strictly kept in house, our environmental impact is small yet there is a strong pull that I need to do something. Since 2015 I have been incorporating upcycled and found fabrics into the construction of our bag linings.

Now I am taking the next steps and also including some beautiful vintage fabrics on the exterior of our bags, as a way to showcase some incredible designs that otherwise would be lost to the trash heap or incinerator.

This is something I feel really good about and you should to!
