Maker Story - Tiny Leather Company, Chris & Katlynn LeBold

A Maker Story is a glimpse into the minds and lives of some of our favorite local artist and makers. We have been so fortunate to know an incredible group of talent from diverse backgrounds - each finding inspiration in different ways.

Each artist has their own unique voice and perspective, however it is safe to say they are all unified with a shared passion for creativity and for making things by hand.

We are proud to carry the work from this exceptional group of makers and wanted to provide a place to highlight their creations. We also hope this space becomes a destination to discover new ideas, interests and be inspired.

When did you start your business? 2020

What inspired you to start Tiny Leather Company? We were looking for some new creative hobbies during Covid and stumbled across some YouTube videos of crafters making wallets.

What does a typical day at Tiny Leather Company look like? This is mostly done in our spare time after our day jobs. But typically it’s one or both of us crafting at our workbench in our spare room, just crafting items that we’re inspired to be making. On the side we work on graphics for our brand, or package any orders that need to go out for shipping. Some days are spent just brainstorming new ideas and testing new patterns.

What product is the first style you ever made? A minimal vertical wallet.

Are you currently working at your business full time? No

What is your most popular style? And what’s your personal favorite? The traditional billfold wallet is our most popular style and our favorite styles are the vertical bi-fold and zipper long wallet.

What is the best part of owning your own business? The freedom to express our creativity without any limitations and the rewarding feeling of building something from the ground up.

What is the most challenging part of owning your own business? Marketing ourselves

Where do you picture your business in 5 years? We would love to be able to do it full time by then.

If you didn't own Tiny Leather Company what would you do? Probably be looking for some other sort of creative field to go more in depth with. Some examples would be pottery, photography, graphic design.
