Inspiration : Our New Shop Display "Spring Blooms"

Spring Blooms: Bringing a Burst of Color to The Shop

After a long snowy winter, time to bring the bright and bold colors of Spring into the shop. This season, I wanted to capture that feeling of rebirth and optimism with my new Spring display: Spring Blooms.

As with my prior shop/window displays, I work with found papers and upcycled materials as much as possible to craft both the interior store display and my very large floral window boxes. Sustainability is at the heart of my creative process, and there is something truly special about giving discarded materials new life.

I envisioned a garden bursting with cheerful multi-colored pansies, one of my favorite flowers. This delicate, yet resilient flower perfectly represents the transition from winter’s cold grip to the vibrancy of Spring.

The Symbolism of Pansies

Pansies have a rich history and deep symbolism, making them a meaningful choice for this display. Their name comes from the French word pensée, meaning "thought" or "remembrance," which is why they have long been associated with memory, love, and reflection.

Beyond their romantic associations, pansies are symbols of endurance and renewal. Their ability to bloom in both cool and warm weather makes them a perfect representation of resilience—an ideal metaphor for spring’s transformation from winter’s dormancy to vibrant growth. By incorporating them into this display, I hope to inspire visitors to embrace new beginnings and cherish the beauty of renewal.

Crafting the Display

Each flower in the display is handmade, carefully shaped from card stock paper, real tree branches wrapped in streamer paper, paint and lots of glue/tape. Layering colors and textures allowed me to create depth, mimicking the softness and intricate patterns of real pansies.

The wood window boxes themselves were a super clearance item find from Lowe’s hardware (normally $54 each, I scored both boxes for only $27!) I am planning on reusing the wood boxes on my own deck this summer. Each flower box is overflowing with these oversized blooms. Inside the shop, the theme continues with cascading paper flowers suspended from the ceiling - creating an immersive “garden-like” atmosphere.

A Symbol of Growth & Renewal

Spring is a reminder of new beginnings. After the long, cold months, we all crave a touch of beauty and warmth. This display is my way of celebrating that transformation.

If you’re in the neighborhood, I’d love for you to stop by and see Spring Blooms in person. It’s a celebration of creativity, sustainability, and the beauty that comes with each new season.
