A Maker Story is a glimpse into the minds and lives of some of our favorite local artist and makers. We have been so fortunate to know an incredible group of talent from diverse backgrounds - each finding inspiration in different ways.

Each artist has their own unique voice and perspective, however it is safe to say they are all unified with a shared passion for creativity and for making things by hand. 

We are proud to carry the work from this exceptional group of makers and wanted to provide a place to highlight their creations. We also hope this space becomes a destination to discover new ideas, interests and be inspired. 

When did you start your business? 2021

What inspired you to start Aloha Lovely? Aloha Lovely originally started as a blog back in 2016. At the time, It was a way for me to share about life living in Hawaii. Eventually it evolved into more of a lifestyle brand, still inspired by the islands. The name Aloha Lovely is a take on "Hello Beautiful"

What does a typical day at Aloha Lovely look like? I run Aloha Lovely in addition to my full-time job in advertising. That means early mornings are when I try to fit in everything Aloha Lovely. Creating products, fulfilling orders, dabbling in marketing efforts, its a mix of things depending on the day.

What product is the first style you ever made? The Aloha Rainbow design was one of the first designs I added to the shop and continues to be one of the most popular. You can find it on a tee, hoodie, crewneck, enamel mug, sticker and even a beach towel!

Are you currently working at your business full time? No, but sometimes feels like it!

What is your most popular style? And what’s your personal favorite? The Aloha Rainbow Hoodie is very popular. Two of my personal favorites are my Foxy Lady Tee and my Stoked Tee.

What is the best part of owning your own business? Probably being the sole decision maker. Especially with the creative vision for the shop. Also seeing others get excited about the products and connecting with what you're doing.

What is the most challenging part of owning your own business? Being resilient when you encounter roadblocks, pivoting and not being discouraged when things don't go as planned.

Where do you picture your business in 5 years? I would love to have a brick and mortar location in addition to my online shop.

If you didn't own Aloha Lovely what would you do? Probably another entrepreneurial endeavor. Maybe travel blogging!
