News - Forest Floor Blog Tour

Welcome! You have arrived at Sarah B. and this is the "Forest Floor" blog tour! I'm so glad you decided to join us for a visit.

I'm super excited - this is my 2nd blog tour with Bonnie Christine from Going Home to Roost and this time around, I know what I am getting into! Yes there is a short backstory here - nothing too dramatic mind you, actually it's pretty amusing. Check out the details from the Succulence blog tour to learn more details.

Apron pocket detail

My lovely model Linda

For my project, I decided to sew a simple apron - I am a beginner sewer so this pattern was just "the right speed" for me. I did modify the pattern slightly by adding the yoke at the top of the apron, I wanted the opportunity to showcase more of the contrasting fabric. The strap, which is adjustable, is made using plain cotton webbing. The apron pattern from PurlSOHO can be found HERE

I selected two fabrics for my project, both from the Late Night palette - "Laced Sunset" and "Wild Posy Flora". I love the combination - don't you?

"Inspired by her experience of living in the forest, Bonnie creates a whimsical world where dreams of a magical place come to life.  Forest Floor hopes to ignite the exploration of forest curiosities, and take you on an adventure filled with green and oak flora and delicate berry tinted fauna that inhabits the wondrous depths of the mountains."

"Laced Sunset" and "Wild Posy Flora" fabrics

The Forest Floor collection is so versatile, there are two color palettes to choose from and ten patterns for each palette. That's a lot of eye candy...it's so hard to choose, they are all gorgeous! If you need more inspiration, check out the Art Gallery Fabrics lookbook for the "Forest Floor" collection.

Linda was such a good sport cutting up my strawberries (which we promptly had for a snack)

I had "sew" much fun with this project (see what I did there...Ha!) I got to learn a little bit more about my sewing machine. Did you know you can adjust the tension on the bobbin? Yeah me neither...Mind blown! I was having so much trouble with the thread getting caught, I took my machine into the local Singer repair. The lovely store help quickly came to my rescue, they were very sweet although I felt a tad embarrassed-who knew?!

As always, I had a blast and love love love all the fabrics from the collection. I hope you will check out all of the talented makers that have arrived before me  (check out the great project from Terri Steele) and please be sure to follow along as the tour rolls on until August 1st.  Cheers!
